Troubleshooting Mobility Printing Authentication on a Mac

Authenticating Print Jobs on a Mac with Mobility Printing

We have had one main issue with people printing from a Mac using Mobility printing.  Follow the instructions below on how to properly authenticate your print job.  There are also instructions on how to troubleshoot if your print job does not come out.

  1. The prompt will ALWAYS pre-populate the username field with your Mac login and NOT your PaperCut login (see below.  I am logged into the mac as Administrator in the example).

  1. You will need to erase the username and replace it with your PaperCut username and enter your PaperCut password.  Check the box next to Remember this password in my keychain if you only want to enter this one time.  If you enter the incorrect credentials, you will need to remove the keychain entry and re-enter your credentials.  Instructions for that are below in the troubleshooting section.

  1. If your print job does not print, click on the printer icon to the left of your trashcan on the taskbar.

  1. If you did not enter the correct credentials, you will see “Hold for authentication” under your print job.  If you click on the refresh arrow to the right, it will bring the windows prompt back up for you to re-enter your credentials.

  1. If you entered the wrong credentials and you saved them to the keychain, you will need to remove that entry from your keychain in order to receive the prompt again.  Start by clicking on Finder on your taskbar.

  1. Once you are in Finder, click on Applications on the left and then open the Utilities folder.

  1. Click on Keychain Access

  1. Right click on the printer that isn’t printing and choose to delete it.

  1. Print to that queue again and you will now see the prompt again.
